Education Activities to Train Future Biomedical Researchers

The Center is undertaking an ambitious educational mission to train biocomputational scientists in biomedical ontology, and advance education in biomedical informatics in general.

We promote the education of the next generation of specialists in biomedical ontology. Through workshops and tutorials led by world-class faculty, and targeted training activities unique to the goals of the Center, we aim to assist the biomedical community in creating and refining effective ontologies.

Some of our activities include:

1. A postdoctoral program in biomedical ontologies, providing cross-disciplinary training in biology and computer science (BMI Training Program)
2. Tutorials and workshops for scientists in biology, medicine, biomedical informatics, and computer science concerning the use of ontologies in their research
3. A visiting scholars program
4. Posting educational materials to help disseminate knowledge about ontologies, research projects, and current technology
