Introduction
This document outlines the design of the metadata representation in BioPortal. The metadata includes the description of the ontologies themselves (and their versions), mappings, reviews, marginal notes, projects, and users. The document describes the requirements for metadata presentation, the architecture and the details of implementing this architecture and accessing it in BioPortal.
We plan to upload the BioPortal Metadata ontology, which represents all the types of metadata and their features, to BioPortal. While the ontology is still actively under development, you can download the current working copy here.
